I hope you have enjoyed all the artwork coming home. The students continue to impress me each day with their creative abilities.
On January 10, the Royal Oak Art department attended a conference at Oakland Schools about Common core and the new National Teaching Standards for the Visual Arts. The art department and I learned a great deal. We are very excited to implement what we have learned into the classroom.
Kindergarten students will begin to make some fun winter art and explore different art materials.
1st grade students will continue learning about Vincent Van Gogh.
2nd grade students are continuing with their self portrait unit studying art by James Rizzi.
3rd grade students are working collaboratively to create an Stop Motion movie. After the movie is complete, they will begin a winter art unit.
4th grade students will begin to study art by influential female artist.
5th grade students are studying different ways to draw a self portrait.
