Happy December,
Winter has arrived. I hope everyone is staying warm. For these cold months the students' will be creating a winter wonderland in the hallways were art is displayed:
· At Oakland outside the art room.
· At Keller in the elevator hallway upstairs.
Unit and Lessons for the month of December:
Kindergarten – students' are working on creating a Big Rig truck and a boat with shapes. The students' are studying 6 shapes for these projects – circle, square, rectangle, triangle, rhombus /diamond, and trapezoid.
1st grade – the first grade will begin a unit on Vincent Van Gogh. Students' will be studying the Starry Night, Van Gogh Self Portrait, Tournesols (Sunflowers).
2nd grade - the second grade students' are studying the illustrations and writing of Dr. Seuss. In art we are focusing on The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and Hop on Pop.
3rd grade – the third grade students are beginning a unit on the Aborigine people (first people to inhabit Australia) and their art.
4th grade – the fourth grade is continuing their study of silhouette-shadow art. Following this unit students' will study the most famous artist of our past and present.
5th grade – the fifth grade is learning about depth and perspective in art. They are creating a forest landscape. Following this unit students' will study the most famous artist of our past and present.
