In the art room we are creating lesson that focus on circle, square and triangle this month. 1st grade- The 1st grade students are learning about texture. Artist draw implied texture and we feel real texture with our hands. Students have made texture weaving necklaces and will begin a texture hamburger soon. 2nd grade- The 2nd grade students are learning about color theory (color mixing and the color wheel). Students have created a tropical bird using all colors and are working on a color wheel spider web. 3rd grade- The 3rd grade students have learned about two landscape artist Lawren Harris and Ted Harrison. Both artist are Canadian and painted pictures of the the Canadian wilderness/mountains. 4th grade- The 4th grade students are learning about real and implied texture. Texture is an element of art. Implied texture is what artist draw (like when drawing hair or a bumpy rock). Students have created an implied texture art by leaf rubbing and then drew themselves jumping into their leaf rubbing. 5th grade- The 5th grade students are learning about the elements of art. They are using their design skills of drawing space to create a design embossed into aluminum. They are very excited about their projects. This month I have many may do choice for students to work on when their assignment is complete. Look for paper pate pumpkins and doddle sketches. Building Room # Date Time

Dear Oak Ridge and Helen Keller Families, My name is Anna Eovaldi and I will be teaching the Art classes at Oak Ridge Elementary this year. I am very excited to be the one who gets to guide your child through the world of art! I have many creative lessons to teach and can’t wait to get started. A little bit about me: I have taught art for the past six years but this will be my second year with Royal Oak. I live with my husband Joe and my son Joey. We have a pet gold fish. I love to spend my free time with my family - reading, bike riding and cooking. I enjoy crocheting and painting. I love teaching art and can’t imagine spending my time doing anything different! My education background: I completed my bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in Art Education in 2008. I was able to obtain my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University in 2012. I continue to grow as an educator by attending educational conferences as well as educational, and art based, workshops. I also feel by visiting various museums and art institutions, strengthen and expands my art knowledge. If you have any questions about the art room please contact me by email and I will reply as soon as possible. Artsonia at Helen Keller - I will be sending home persmission slips and directions soon for those who particpated last year and for those who want to join! Students will keep their art shirt on their coat hook. Please label the art shirt with your child’s name. Art room website: The art room website is http://creatingwithmrse.weebly.com/ On the site you will find student art work, monthly newsletters and links to Artsoina.
