Welcome back,
I hope everyone had a well rested Thanksgiving break. Each grade level is back to drawing and creating. Over the weekend I was introduced to a new webpage called Budsies www.budsies.com. On the page students can turn their artwork into custom plush toys (prices do vary) Check it out for a one of a kind stuffed toy.
Art Lessons:
Kindergarten students – Shape unit – Students are busy drawing, cutting and gluing the following shapes to create different art pieces: circles, squares, triangles, rectangle, diamonds and trapezoids.
1st grade students - Asian Art unit- Students have completed their texture unit.
2nd grade students – Self-portrait unit – Students will study various artist and create a self-portrait in their drawing style.
3rd grade students – Color Mixing unit – Students have learned how to use paint, oil pastel, colored pencils and shading with a regular pencil. Students will demonstrate these skills in color blending on their overlapping snowflake art.
4th grade students – Optical Illusion unit – Students will be learning how to draw and optical illusion.
5th grade students – Famous Artist unit – Students will begin this art unit by learning about 4 different abstract artists: Claude Monet- impressionism, Piet Mondrian – non-representational, Jackson Pollock – splatter art and George Seurat – pointillism . Students will draw out each art movement created by that artist on a giant pinwheel.
Additionally - All grade levels will be participating in at least one technology based art lesson this school year.
